- 1st Annual Diversity Homeownership Fair – May 6th 2023
The event focused on imparting knowledge about the pre-approval process and credit-building strategies while shedding light on recently enacted state legislation that offered down payment assistance for first-generation and first-time homeowners. Additionally, the fair addressed the needs of interest-adverse borrowers through new fee-based home loan assistance programs funded by the state. This gathering served as an educational platform, facilitating access to essential information and guidance for individuals who sought to navigate the complexities of Minnesota’s housing landscape.
- Equity in Health Festival- September 14th, 2023
The Equity in Health Festival took place on September 14th, 2023, from 2 pm to 7 pm at Haws Park in St. Cloud, MN, across from the COP House. This event was made possible by the generous support of Central Minnesota Community Foundation, Filsan Talent Partners, Higher Works Collaborative, Medica, UCare, Whitney Senior Center, Insight Medical Supply, and HealthPartners. The festival served as a catalyst for positive change in the Southside St. Cloud neighborhood, promoting well-being and health equity.
Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to experience the fusion of cultural music and health messaging through a captivating live performance by Dalmar Yare. Interactive workshops, demonstrations, and enjoyable activities were available for individuals of all ages. Local healthcare experts, businesses, and community members were on hand to provide guidance in areas such as nutrition, fitness, mental health, and more, all tailored to the unique cultural context of the community.
The Family Connect Zone offered families an array of games, crafts, and activities to encourage a healthy lifestyle. This inclusive event welcomed not only the Southside neighborhood but also the broader St. Cloud community. The Equity in Health Festival was a remarkable initiative aimed at fostering a healthier and more equitable neighborhood, and it served as a testament to the positive impact that collaborative efforts can achieve.
